PRIVACY POLICY

1. Who We Are

Caldef is a nutrition and fitness tracking application developed and operated by an independent developer. For any privacy-related questions, contact us at shortbrainer@gmail.com.

2. What Data We Collect

Data you enter directly

• Age, biological sex, height, weight, and target weight (used to calculate your calorie goal)
• Daily food logs including calories, protein, carbohydrates, and fat
• Body measurements (waist, chest, hips, arms, thighs)
• Workout logs (type, duration, calories burned)
• Before/after progress photos (stored only on your device)
• Fasting start times and goals
• Water intake logs

Data from Apple HealthKit

With your explicit permission, Caldef reads and writes the following HealthKit data:

• Step count (read) — used to display your daily steps
• Active energy burned (read) — used to calculate your net calorie deficit
• Body mass / weight (read & write) — synced with your weight log
• Dietary energy consumed (write) — your logged calories written back to Health

HealthKit data is never shared with third parties, used for advertising, or transmitted to any server. It is used exclusively within the app to power your dashboard and calculations.

AI coach chat messages

When you send a message to Olie (our AI nutrition coach), your message and a summary of your current nutrition context (today's calorie total, macro breakdown, and calorie goal) are sent to our AI infrastructure providers — Groq and OpenAI — to generate a response. These messages are processed under each provider's privacy policy and are not stored by Caldef beyond the current session.

3. How We Store Your Data

All personal data — food logs, weight entries, body measurements, photos, and profile information — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device except as described in Section 2 (AI chat and HealthKit sync).

We do not operate servers that store your personal information. We do not have accounts, logins, or cloud sync. Uninstalling the app deletes all stored data permanently.

4. Advertising

Caldef displays advertisements powered by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve personalised or contextual ads, subject to Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time via Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising on your iPhone.

Ad revenue helps us keep Caldef free. No personal nutrition data, HealthKit data, or photos are shared with AdMob.

5. Third-Party Services

• Groq — AI inference provider for the Olie nutrition coach. Groq Privacy Policy
• OpenAI — Fallback AI provider for the Olie nutrition coach. OpenAI Privacy Policy
• Google AdMob — In-app advertising. Google Privacy Policy
• Apple HealthKit — Health data platform. Subject to Apple's privacy guidelines.
• Open Food Facts — Food database used for barcode scanning and food search. No personal data is transmitted with food queries.

6. Children's Privacy

Caldef is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it.

7. Your Rights

Because all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control at all times:

• Access — all your data is visible within the app
• Deletion — delete individual logs within the app, or uninstall the app to remove everything
• HealthKit revocation — revoke Caldef's HealthKit access at any time via Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices
• AI opt-out — simply don't use the Olie chat feature; no data is sent to AI providers unless you send a message

8. Data Security

Your data is protected by your device's built-in security (device passcode, Face ID / Touch ID, and iOS encryption). All AI chat requests are transmitted over HTTPS. We do not have access to your device or its stored data.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you via an in-app notice. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
